Sellia Villas
Development Description

OVER the centuries the southern coast of Italy has been known as a magical location and today that magic is as alive and enticing as ever! It is here on this Southern coast at ancient Sellia Marina that the majestic and magical mountains sweep down to the tranquil waters of the turquoise Ionian Sea through fragrant forests of pine and orchards laden down with peaches and oranges.

VFI Overseas Property is now offering investors the opportunity to enjoy sun, sand, sea and stunning mountains at a small and exclusive development of six beautiful homes in Sellia Marina.

Award winning VFI Overseas Property, presently have 19 stunning developments on the Southern Italian Riviera. All are well known for the luxurious quality and idyllic settings – and Sellia Marina certainly will not disappoint. VFI has a fine reputation for the quality of our luxury homes and its attention to detail and recently was named as a leading award winner at the CNBC 2009 European Property Awards for our five star developments in Southern Italy.

There are just six attractive modern, luxury homes at pretty Sellia Marina. The striking, small development comprises of four villas built on two levels and one luxury home on one level. The villas have a modern feel to them with large windows to make the most of the beautiful Mediterranean light with attractive stairs to the front.

The four two storey villas have large open ground floors with open plan kitchens and sitting areas as well as a bathroom with two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. The homes have pretty Mediterranean gardens with terraces to enjoy the beautiful climate.

The ground floor villa has an open plan kitchen and sitting room with two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower.

All of them have large gardens and large basement garages.

The homes have had their roofs designed so that owners, keen to capitalise on their green credentials, can add solar panels.

A small, fragrant pine and eucalyptus plantation divides the pretty homes from the pure white sandy beach, which is ideal for stretching out on a lounger to enjoy the fabulous Mediterranean climate. The forest is criss-crossed by safe paths and cycle routes complete with a children’s playground. The trees provide welcome shade for the Sunday market in the heat of the summer, the market moves to town on Tuesdays in winter. Nearby there is an open air theatre with an exciting programme of events in the summer months.

The beach is ideal for anyone who wants to keep active. There are canoes to hire, pedaloes, windsurfing and sailing and the transparent turquoise waters are ideal for a spot of snorkeling and diving too. The fishing is fabulous but for the very adventurous there is parasailing which affords breathtaking views of the sea and the surrounding area.

The Sila Mountains are close-by too and these beautiful pine and chestnut clad peaks are wonderful to explore on guided tours and ideal for anyone keen on trekking. The waterfalls in the mountains are stupendous and dell Amendolea is really worth a visit. The Pollino mountains and National park offer thrilling white water rafting at Morano Calabro.

In May the town pulls out all the stops to celebrate the three day Festival of St Nicholas when a statue of the saint is paraded through the streets and the partying begins.

There is so much to enjoy at Sellia, from exploring the fascinating ancient past of the town where the archaelogists have found glass, precious metals and pottery dating back into pre-history to looking in on the nearby Lambretta scooter museum, an icon of the 20th century.

The Ionian Coast was originally settled by the Greeks who loved the fabulous variety of food available here. Today this area is famous for its delicious cuisine, particularly the rich harvest of fish. Taste the sunshine in the peaches for which the area is famous, the citrus fruit and the tomatoes, which local farmers slice and leave to become even more delicious after drying in the sun!

This area enjoys a beautiful Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers. Spring and Autumn are particularly lovely with long days of warm sunshine, ideal for enjoying the lovely beach.

Getting to Sellia Marina could not be more simple. Excellent roads now link the area to the International Lamezia Terme airport served by budget airlines and the up and coming Sant’Anna airport at Crotone.
